Licca-chan Goes West!

One of Tomy's LIcca promo banners shows Licca-chan dressed in five differebt outfits. From left to right, as Frieren from Frieren: Beyond Journey's End; in a cute day outfit with pink and white separates and a fleece-lined jacket, dark brown hair long and tied back; in a Victorian-styles gown of cream lace with black velvet ribbon detail and flowing golden-brown hair; in formal red and gold kimono with red flowers in her long reddish brown hair; and wearing a Kuromi sweatshirt and lilac plaid miniskirt, her long pink hair tied in bunches.

Oh, be still, my heart! Licca-chan, the iconic Japanese fashion doll created by Miyako Maki, renowned mangaka and wife of Leiji Matsumoto, is coming to the American market.

The friend and companion of little girls in Japan since 1967, Licca is often described as the “Japanese Barbie” despite her childlike, innocent vibe. Like Barbie, she has both playline and adult collector dolls, and her latest IP collaborations include Frieren, Detective Conan, My Melody and Kuromi.

You know exactly what’s on my wish list for the next few holidays and birthdays!
